Welcome to the DVD Recorders with Freeview page, this is a guide to the
DVD recorders that have a hard drive and can also receive Freeview so they
are very good indeed for all of your television watching and recording needs.
These DVD recorders with a hard drive and Freeview are very useful as they
allow you to watch Freeview and also record Freeview programmes easily onto
the hard drive or onto a DVD.
The main thing to look at when buying a DVD recorder with a hard disk drive (HDD)
is the size of the HDD. This is measured in gigabytes (GB) and the more gigabytes
it has the more space it will have to record programmes, common HDD sizes are
80GB and 160GB with the 160GB DVD recorders offering twice as much space as the
80GB DVD recorders with a HDD. The 160GB DVD recorders with a HDD will cost more
though as the extra HDD space is quite expensive, the extra recording space is
very useful though as it can fill up very fast indeed if you record allot of
television programmes.
You can transfer your recordings onto DVD though to free up HDD space or you
can record your recordings straight onto DVD if you have ran out of HDD space,
you will need some blank DVD's though but these are quite cheap.
Having a HDD included with the DVD recorder with Freeview also opens up lots
of very cool features such as pausing live television, when you pause live television
the DVD recorder records onto the hard drive and when you press play it starts
playing from when you pressed pause. It then keeps recording what you have watched
so you can keep watching even though you are behind the 'live' action, you can
of course skip forward to the live action if you wish and you can also fast forward
and rewind within the recorded programme. If you are recording a programme you
can also rewind live television as the programme is also on the hard drive and
this can be very useful indeed for catching moments that you have missed, the
whole ability to pause, rewind and fast forward live television is very useful
indeed and is also very impressive on the first time that you use it!
Another great thing about having Freeview included with the DVD recorder that
has a HDD is that the ones that have an electronic programme guide (most do)
are a joy to use. This is because you can simply select programmes in the electronic
programme guide and press record and the DVD recorder will record the programme
so there is no need to set timers or even enter Video Plus codes. The electronic
programme guide also makes it easier to see what is on as it lays out all of
the programmes from lots of channels in a time line so you can see which you
want to watch and which clash with each other, the great thing is that you can
record the ones that clash with another programme.
Some DVD recorders with Freeview and a HDD also have twin tuners so that you
can actually record two programmes at the same time and this can be very useful
if there is allot on (this often happens with Freeview as there are so many channels).
You can also record one programme while you are recording another which could
never be done with video recorders and is very useful.
If you wish to buy a DVD recorder that has Freeview then we have listed some
on this page, they all have Freeview included and some have a HDD which are usually
the more expensive DVD recorders. They are also listed with the cheapest first
so it is easy to buy a cheap DVD recorder with Freeview here:
