Welcome to the Cable Television page, cable is a method of delivering digital television and other services through cables to your home. Cable television has several advantages over other digital television services such as Sky Digital and Freeview in that there are never any reception issues so no matter how hard it rains or snows outside you will always receive your digital television with cable television. Cable is also often cheaper than Sky and offers many of the same channels including some Sky channels such as the Sky Sports and Movies channels but this is only on certain cable services.

Another reason that cable can be very cheap is that it can often be bundled with other services such as your home phone and broadband connection. If you subscribe to the digital television, broadband and home phone services from a cable company you are sure to save allot of money as all of these services would cost allot more if purchased separately, many of the cable companies also offer cheap subscriptions for the first few months which can be good value.

There is a small problem with cable and that is that it is not available to all UK house holds; you have to be in a cable enabled area to receive digital television through cable. This is not a problem in most cities but there are lots of towns and rural areas that cannot get cable so if you live in one of these areas you will have to choose another means of receiving digital television; either Sky Digital or Freeview (and just to make matters worse Freeview is not available in many areas).

When you sign up for a cable package for digital television there is lots to choose from, mainly it is the channels that you would like access to and most cable companies offer packages that range from the basic package to the top package with all of the main channels. There are then often add on channels that you can add and these are usually premium channels or packages such as sports and movies so you can add these if they interest you. You can also often choose hardware as there are basic digiboxes that are often free and there are also often advanced digiboxes that have a hard drive included so that you can record television programmes and also pause live television.

There are lots of companies that offer cable including digital television and other cable services like broadband and your home phone which can save you allot of money if you use these services. The main cable providers in the UK are NTL and Telewest and they both have some fantastic packages available so have a good look through what they have to offer, also check that you can receive their services by entering your post code on their web sites.
